The Illustration Shop.

The new year has been keeping me busy with art work, which is a great thing! I love drawing, coloring and all things painting. Plus, it feels great to be somewhat artistic again. In the past few years, I haven't been able to pursue much of those talents and instead opted to do whatever was needed to help bring in an income. This year, however, with the support of my husband and family, I'm beginning to do once again what I love... art.

Thanks to social media, others have also gotten to see what I create and have asked for art work for themselves. Between coloring pages, logos and personalized campers.. I feel blessed. I never really considered myself to have a style but apparently from messages and emails I've received stating that people love "my style", I guess I do.

Thanks to all of you who have so far been supporting my art work and sending love my way. Feel free to look around the shop. I've been trying to add some new Valentine's Coloring Pages as well as more Travel Pages.  Happy Travels to all!!

Skiing in the New Year.

It’s now 2016 and another year has come and gone. It always amazes me at just how quick a year can go as well as how long they can drag on for. Time really does just continue to go on and on, no matter the mood you are in at certain times. We try to make the best and the most of all situations as we truly know just how short life and time can both be.

In the meantime, we hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and a very happy New Year. Our Christmas was very nice, quiet and enjoyable. We hung out as a family, ate lots of yummy food, opened presents and gave thanks for the birth of our Savior. Dusty ( our elf) visited us for the month of December and played lots of tricks on the kids. We all said good-bye on Christmas Eve to our elf and prepared for the arrival of Santa. Our New Year was spent playing games and hitting the sack before the ball dropped. Having moved from Virginia, we say we celebrated with the East Coast... for this year at least. Maybe next year, we’ll stay up and party into the night but then again, who knows exactly where we’ll be.

Chris and I also celebrated 12 years of being happily married on the 30th. 12 years. wow. It hasn’t been all rainbows and ponies but it’s definitely been an adventure and one that we’re proud to say we’re taking together. Here’s to many more years of laughing, road trips and creating awesome memories.

After the New Year came, we were able to hit the ski slopes for the first time with the kids. They’d never been skiing and were super excited to try their skills out on the mountain. It always amazes me to see just how fast kids can catch on and then to see them fly down the hills. I never know if they mean to go that fast or if they just can’t stop. For our kids, they actually want to go that fast. Go figure.

Chris has really been enjoying working up at Monarch. He works 4 days and then gets 3 days off. We try to ski as much as we can with him on his days off and on the days he works, we can hang out on the slopes while he works hard for his money. I guess we can’t complain.

Life in the mountains has been different but good. From what we've heard, this has been one of the coldest winters in several years. I wouldn't expect anything different because we like to take unique with us everywhere we go. This past summer, Buena Vista had seen some of the highest water levels on the river in almost 16 years and now the winter  in BV is proving to be one of the coldest as well. Adventure, oh Adventure. We truly embrace the adventure.

Happy New Year To All!!
Let's fill it with Adventures.

Top 15 Memories of 2015.

2015 is over, which is sort of hard to believe, but I feel 2016 is going to be amazing and full of so many awesome adventures. In the meantime, we thought we would share some of our top memories from this past year. These are in no particular order but just such great times we shared with us as a family and with our extended family.

"Travel often, Travel far, Experience Much"

1. Cocoa Beach, Florida : Getting to bodyboard on some amazing waves the day before we left for Colorado. The entire two weeks beforehand, there were no waves and on that last day we thought we would hit the beach for a final day in the sun. However, little did we know that the waves were pumping! Complete Sweetness!!

2. Clear Scans at St. Jude's. It's always a good memory when Montana returns to St. Jude and receives the all clear. We're still so blessed to have him with us.

3. Sand Dunes National Park in Colorado. It's a place we've always wanted to take the kids and of course try our hand at sandboarding. The sun was shining, the water was flowing and everyone had a blast.

4. Arches National Park and Moab, UT.  Moab has been a bucket list location for a few years and this past June we made a mini vacation trip to visit it. We were NOT disappointed!! This place has become a favorite and we know we'll be back!!

5. Arkansas River in Buena Vista, Colorado: We spent so many days and hours on this river. I learned to whitewater SUP while Chris kayaked. The playhole became our second home and the kids loved getting to swim around and rock hop.

6. Rafting through Brown's Canyon: AMAZING! This was such a gorgeous rafting trip, the kids had a blast and we didn't flip!

7. Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party, Magic Kingdom: We met my family in Orlando to go trick or treating at the Magic Kingdom. So expensive but so worth every penny. We hope to go again next year.

8. St. Jude 1/2 Marathon in Memphis, TN.  Another bucket list item we accomplished. Joy and I ran 13 miles for the kids battling cancer as well as for our own little hero. It hurt by the end but we did it and we did it for Montana!

9. Longboarding in Florida: We taught all three kids to longboard and pretty much spent every evening in Florida hitting the road and riding til the sun went down.

10. Mnt Princeton Hot Springs, Buena Vista, Colorado: My family came to visit us in Colorado and treated us all to the hot springs for Myla's birthday. Such gorgeous views while swimming in comfort.

11. ATVing in Colorado: For Kenna's birthday we took the family ATVing through Chris' company. It was such a blast as we flew through the back lands and took in all the history and amazing views.

12. St. Elmo, Colorado: Myla loves prairie dogs and this place does not disappoint. Here you can visit this old ghost town while hanging out with prairie dogs and chipmunks. You can purchase food for .50 cents so that these cute little critters will eat out of your hand or off your leg. The kids love this place.

13. Getting our new camper, Filmore: We said good-bye to Bessie the Beast and welcomed Filmore with open arms. Yes, it's much smaller but allows us to travel so much more often. It doesn't matter how small your home is as long as it's filled with love and awesome memories!

14. Destin, Florida: We vacationed to Destin for 4 days while passing through Florida on our way to Missouri. Everyone had such a great time while we swam, ate at Fudpuckers, and took in the sun.

15. Branson, Missouri- Silver Dollar City: In December we went to Silver Dollar City with Chris' parents to enjoy the Christmas Festive Spirit that the park offers. It's been a favorite location of the entire family so we try to go when we can. Happy Holidays.

And there you have it. Of course we have so many memories we cherish and love but that's part of our travels. There are just so many places to go and things to see that it's hard to narrow everything down. We love all of our experiences but some stand out a tad more than others. We hope you all have a blessed 2016 and travel as far and as often as you can. Be safe and happy travels. Who knows, maybe we'll meet you on the road.

Love, The Oatman Clan
